I'm a bookworm of the highest caliber! If you see me, I'll probably be reading. There's nothing I love more than finding a good book, and then sharing it with the world!

The Castle Behind Thorns by Merrie Haskell

The Castle Behind Thorns - Merrie Haskell

This will be a short review, because I'm so underwhelmed by this book that I don't have much to say. It took me over a month to finally finish reading this. I read a little bit of The Castle Behind Thorns at a time, desperately hoping that something would spark my interest and make we want to read faster. Sadly, that never happened.

The writing is fine. Not spectacular, but well done. The characters were one-dimensional and tough for me to care about. It was the plot line that really did this book in though. It just moves so painstakingly slow. I'm fine with this if it means that big things are coming around the bend, or if it is used as a way to share information essential to the plot. Neither of these was true, in this case. It was just a slow read, with an ending that left me feeling cold. Such a pity.
