I'm a bookworm of the highest caliber! If you see me, I'll probably be reading. There's nothing I love more than finding a good book, and then sharing it with the world!

Kate Pearce Mini Reviews!

The First Sinners - Kate Pearce The Ties That Bind - Kate Pearce

I was in the mood for some quick, steamy reads and decided to go hunting! I found both of Kate Pearce's novellas for free on Amazon, and thought I'd give them a shot. Here are some mini reviews.

The First Sinners - 3 Stars

I was looking for some steam, and I definitely got it. While Faith and Ian weren't the most fleshed out characters, I did end up liking them. I loved Faith's passion, and her ability to speak her mind. Despite the fact that this story is set in a time when being opinionated would have been frowned upon, she is. It makes her banter with Ian that much better. As for Ian? He's a definite Rake. Full of fire, he's used to getting what he wants. Roguishly handsome and with the deft skills to fully please a woman? Yes, please.

Which brings me to the sexy parts, which I'm sure you've been waiting for! These two crank up the heat on the page when they ravish one another. There's a little bit of everything in the sex department, but nothing too over the top. It's all very much Faith and Ian, the two of them learning one another inside and out. (Pun definitely intended.) Add in the fact that this book actually had somewhat of a plot? Worth the three star rating. Did I mention that it's also free?

The Ties That Bind - 2 Stars

I wasn't really impressed by this one. First off, the characters aren't even really touched on in this story. Lady Arabella, her husband Lord James and the third wheel Tom are all only mentioned in passing. There's an attempt at a back story which, if you'll allow me to spoil a bit, basically revolves around James neglecting his wife because her father wouldn't let him near her. Hmmm... interesting, no? From what I gather, he married her so she could have a title and then was blackmailed away. It's confusing.

The main focus of this is definitely the sex. There isn't a lot of romance here, so if that's what you're looking for? Look elsewhere. On the other hand, if you're looking for snippets of random sex scenes? Here's your book! There's even a m/f/m scene at the ending to wrap everything up. Again, it's free! So if it entices you, I say snatch it up. For me, it was a two star read.
