I'm a bookworm of the highest caliber! If you see me, I'll probably be reading. There's nothing I love more than finding a good book, and then sharing it with the world!
I don't have the mental capacity, nor the emotional fortitude, to write a full review on this one. So you get a list :). It was a just-for-fun read anyway, so in the immortal words of Cartman "Whatever! I do what I WANT!"
Things I Liked:
* This book reminds me a lot of Supernatural. Super cool references to dybbuks, angry spirits, and echoes.
* The story line isn't boring at all. It moves quickly, meshing a hunt for an ultimate weapon with encounters with the baddies mentioned above. Add in creepy settings for encounters, like old homes and abandoned prisons? Awesome.
Things I Didn't Like:
* The characters. They were so stereotypical. Here's the angry brother, paired with the sympathetic brother. The girl of the group who automatically hates other girls and has a chip on her shoulder. The uber smart, nerdy guy who handles all the tech. You get the picture. It's like The Breakfast Club, Supernatural style.
* The romance. KILL ME NOW. Kennedy doesn't just fall for one brother, she has to have feelings for both. So that way it can cause tension and they'll fight over her. That's what every girl wants. Right?
* Kennedy. Yes, I know I talked about the characters already, but Kennedy herself is maddeningly obnoxious for a main character. She's helpless most of the time, overly emotional the rest, and can't seem to survive her way out of a cardboard box. Good thing she has two boys fighting over her to save her.
* The ending. Just. Ugh. I am wishing for more standalone novels and less abrupt endings masquerading as cliffhangers.
So there you have it. I'm willing to give this three stars simply because the story concept was pretty bad-ass and, as it stands, not the least bit boring. I'd say it's worth a shot if you're interested in the synopsis :).
