So Grim gifted me a few key issues in the Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye series so that I could meet Whirl and Rung. Ummm... guys? I'm so ridiculously hooked after only reading this one issue. One issue.

How did I not know how much depth there is in this world? I guess I never really thought of Transformers comics as something I'd want to read. I remember growing up, watching the cartoon, and thinking it was pretty cool. This though, this is something entirely different. From this one issue I can already tell that there are good things waiting for me out there.

These characters have real personality. They're funny, honest, vindictive, terrifying, all the things that every other character we love has to offer. The story isn't afraid to deal with things like PTSD, the need for revenge, death, but also camaraderie and teamwork. Again, how the hell did I not know this was out there?

I now see why Grim loves these so much, and especially why Whirl and Rung are so amazing. Whirl especially is just too broken and sarcastic not to love.

It's testament that I have no idea what happened previously, and I still love this issue. Which is why I promptly found a way to get Volume 1 and Volume 2 of this series. A buddy read is totally happening.

Also, because I can't resist and this made me laugh way too hard, I give you this. What other joke do you make when your punishment is fixing rivets for hours?
