Seconds by Bryan Lee O'Malley
Hmmm...
What to say about Seconds? I won't lie, I picked this up solely because it's by Bryan Lee O'Malley and I am a huge fan of Scott Pilgrim. I love the dry, nerdy humor that Scott Pilgrim just brims with, and I was really hoping for more of that!
Let's do a list, shall we?
THE GOOD:
* It has an original story line.
* Wonderful illustrations, with vivid characters.
* Some of that humor I wanted (Katie totally yells at the narrator and I LOVE it!).
* It has a moral. Yup, a moral.
THE MEH:
* The story line was a bit confusing at times.
* It felt like the story dragged on a little too long.
* I wanted more humor. This was pretty damn serious.
So, the good outweighs the bad! I'll offer up three stars to the reading powers that be, for this book. I know I shouldn't expect O'Malley's work to always be the same. It's just that I fell in love with SP, and I wanted more. At least watching Katie yell at the narrator was hilarious! Enjoy!
