I'm a bookworm of the highest caliber! If you see me, I'll probably be reading. There's nothing I love more than finding a good book, and then sharing it with the world!
I'm not going to write a full review on this one, because it will most likely turn into an angry rant. Instead, I'll just break it down for you.
I've said it before, and I'll say it again, I'm in awe at the fact that this book is supposed to be about a high-stakes survival competition and yet it somehow manages to be boring. The synopsis calls this a "pulse-pounding thrill ride". Really? I'd have to politely disagree. There wasn't a single moment in this book that I felt on the edge of my seat. In reality, I wasn't flipping the pages to find out what happened next, but instead to find something to keep me invested in this story.
Tella has zero survival skills and is completely unbelievable as a competitor. There's no explanation even of why she was chosen. Or why this contest exists in the first place. Add in the fact that the vast majority of this book resembles other, more well-written, books out there and I'm just unimpressed.
